her story

A life shaped by service.

“My goals will never include a title or a role. My goal will always be to serve.”

Ashlee Young is a worship leader, licensed minister, mother, and leadership developer whose story has been shaped by church, family, formation, and faithful service.

Born in French Camp and raised in Stockton, California, Ashlee was born and raised at New Greater Love COGIC. Ministry was not something she discovered later; it was part of the environment that formed her from childhood.

Her formal staff leadership began at New Greater Love COGIC from 2006 to 2012, where she served as Youth & Young Adult Minister of Music and Fine Arts Director. From 2007 to 2009, she also served as Junior Chairlady for the California Northwest Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.

faith journey

Not performance. Presence.

Ashlee grew up in church, memorized Scripture, and knew how to “do church,” but she describes her surrendered relationship with God as something that became solid in adulthood.

Her words are clear: “Now, I love Him and I act like it. Every day is an opportunity to get to know Him more, love the way He loves, and forgive the way He forgives.”

She describes her calling as disrupting atmospheres that are not conducive for worship and creating spaces that promote changed behavior.

ministry philosophy

The posture matters more than the spotlight.

Ashlee does not frame ministry around visibility or platform. She says, “I’m a worship leader and I just want my posture to stand out enough for people to be drawn to God, not me.”

Over the last decade, her view of ministry has become more integrated and personal. Ministry is not just the role or title a person holds at church; it is the way they live.

Her greatest disappointment in ministry has been seeing performative efforts valued over the presence of God. That conviction gives her worship leadership a clear center: Jesus, formation, and spiritual substance.

Ashlee Young with her sons

family

Mother first.

Tate & Tyler

Ashlee is the proud mother of two sons, Tate and Tyler. Her role as a mother is not secondary to her leadership story — it is one of the places where her leadership has been most deeply formed.

She has never moved her sons before, but she describes them as maturing and capable of adjusting. That matters because this is not simply a ministry transition; it is a family discernment process.

References consistently describe her family life as intentional, stable, and God-honoring. They note her ability to care for her family, serve her professional role, and lead in church with excellence.

For Ashlee, leadership begins before a stage. It begins at home through consistency, care, sacrifice, presence, and stewardship.
